Why the society for animal consciousness™?
In the past animals were considered to be non-sentient beings meaning that they were void of consciousness, were instinctual and had no directed feelings or experience that allowed them to make personal choices. As such animals were treated appallingly in many areas of the industrial, agricultural and research world.
The good news is that in 2012 Cambridge University finally admitted that animals, that is non-human animals are considered to have thoughts. This changes everything!
This opens a portal to the possibility that anecdotal evidence may begin to shed some light towards exploring consciousness in animals, plants and nature. Anecdotal evidence that so many animal lovers, ethnologists and the like have experienced. The knowing that animal encounters (wild and domestic) suggest individual personalities, stories, emotions and thoughts providing a plethora of heart felt experience and relationship that enriches all lives. Of course there will be skeptics and those who believe that science is based solely on what is seen in the physical thus they argue anthropomorphism is merely a projection of our own experience. This may be so, however, anyone who has had an animal cannot dismiss that they experience pain, grief, sadness and joy.
The Society for Animal Consciousness™ will allow you to explore this knowledge and understanding. It will open dialogue between being and fact. It will discuss consciousness across the natural world, bringing an integral, eclectic approach to what we think about the natural world and animals!

what we doThe Society for Animal Consciousness™ is the gateway to exploring sentience, not as artifact of reality but a central tenet of existence. Consciousness is the reason we engage with reality. It is intricately threaded in the fabric of life itself. And yet the materialist view suggests that lack of measurement equates to it's non-existence. The Society explores consciousness using the known senses as a grounding for deeper understanding of ontological phenomenon. This integrated understanding brings with it an organic thinking beyond the current limited worldview. |
Why nowCurrent times call for a shift in understanding. A shift that runs deeper than the self. One that creates the space to explore our connections with the natural world in a reformed way. A new lens that calls for an accountability beyond the behavioral response. Rather it involves a deeper understanding of internal perceptions. And, how these contribute to the development of self-perceptions and the effects of their projection upon external reality. The Society for Animal Consciousness™ is a pivotal educational and explorative instrument for this change. |
join usJoin us on an exploration of the interconnectedness between the natural world, it's inhabitants and ourselves. A boundless science unifying perception, immersion grounded in a principled world view. The Society for Animal Consciousness™ provides a canopy for the seeker of deeper connections with themselves and the natural world. Becoming a member is a shared commitment toward growth beyond current thinking. It is the beginning of an evolutionary understanding borne of epistemology (fact) and ontology (experience). Join us! |
Animal Consciousness
"Animal consciousness and its existence has long being debated in scientific circles. A deeper dialogue and understanding of ontological and epistemological aspects grounded in a principled methodology is needed. There is much to learn through the human-animal connection about ourselves and the natural world. The Society for Animal Consciousness™ is the safe container for this exploration on an individual and collective level.” ~ Chiara Marrapodi

OUR GOALTo illuminate a principled view about consciousness and the natural world |
First Let'sConnect
In a world becoming more technologically advanced we find that connecting to ourselves, others and nature is becoming less and less common place. What was once a norm is now fast becoming an impediment. Human to human connection and human to nature connection is becoming scarce. At The Society for Animal Consciousness™ our vision is to bring a new way to connect with ourselves and the natural world. We do this through perceiving using a principled approach founded upon the relationship between doing and being.
|
ThenThink Organically
Current thinking is limiting and this is evidenced in the myriad of worldwide problems on so many levels. These are most pronounced in the break down of our natural ecosystems. These ecosystems are not stand alone objects that can be changed without these effects influencing deep threads that are interrelated. The Society for Animal Consciousness™ explores a dynamic approach to thinking and gives members and course participants the space to engage in an organic, wholistic world view. |
IT'S UP TO USTo Change View
Humanity is in a quandary. The technological age is upon us and yet we are surrounded by more chaos than ever before. A new paradigm is called for as the old world views fail to offer adequate explanations. An internal change in our thinking is needed. A shift towards a boundless science. An individual change spilling out to the collective. A change echoing throughout the planetary ecosystem.
